Discovery first. Then the lesson.
Rich and varied experiences are provided for the children, in two distinct halves of the morning.
Discovery time
Children explore the learning centres independently or in cooperative play with their peers. The available activities promote social interaction, individual creativity, confidence and fine and gross motor skill development.
Organized activities & mini-lessons
Educational concepts are introduced through letters, phonics, numbers, colours, shapes and spatial concepts — the foundations needed for a successful kindergarten year. Large-muscle activities complete the program.
What we are actually trying to do for your child.
Ten goals guide every morning in our classrooms.
Self-esteem that grows outward
To develop a child’s self-esteem — “I’m special” — and then move forward to being an important part of his or her family, community and world.
Meeting each child where they are
To understand the individual child’s level of development and mastery of skills, then guide them forward without pressure, in a loving, encouraging manner.
Learning to be part of a group
Following directions in large and small groups, self-expression within a group, joining games and activities, sharing, and learning compassion and understanding for others.
A love of stories and language
To help develop the child’s interest in and understanding of stories and language.
Confident little hands
To encourage small-muscle development through table games, puzzles, blocks, clay, handicrafts, sand and tools.
Room for big bodies
To encourage large-muscle development with riding trucks, large blocks, exercising, dancing, jogging and skating.
Awareness of their world
To encourage awareness of the world in which we live through science and social studies.
Ears for music and rhythm
To help the child develop listening and sound discrimination, tonal difference, loudness and softness, and rhythm patterns through singing, music and movement.
Creativity and confidence
To encourage creativity and confidence in every child.
And above all, fun
To have fun as each child develops at his or her own rate.
